What is Pain?
Pain is the physical symptom triggered by physical injury or bodily stress. The word pain derives from the Latin "poena", meaning a fine or penalty. The Latin root for pain views it as the body's consequence for harm. Pain can be further explained by the triggering of a cluster or nerve cells in the body in response physical or biological stimulus. For example, if one touches a hot stove, the nerve clusters near the fingers fire off electric signals to the brain which we register as pain in order to inform us that the action performed was detrimental to your health. Pain can be placed into two categories, either acute or chronic. Acute pain is pain that has been occurring for less than three months and is usually the symptom of physical tissue damage. For this type of pain, a medication such as Tramadol would be the best solution. Chronic pain is pain that has lasted for beyond three months. The causes of chronic pain are vast. Some may include arthritis, joint disorders, or long lasting diseases and cancer pains.
